Cleaning the vents helped with our allergies

I have been doing more laundry now because I noticed that our flu symptoms were getting worse.

  • At first nothing I did helped our symptoms, even though I was dusting all of the surfaces in our home, sweeping as well as mopping the floors, and even vacuuming every single day.

I thought that doing all of those things would help me stop suffering. However, none of it did. My nurse told me that we could install an air cleaner with a HEPA filter as well as UV-C bulbs for additional air cleaning in the house. But even that didn’t completely stop all of our symptoms. The air cleaner helped more than anything else at that point, however it still wasn’t enough. Then our nurse recommended that our clothing as well as bedding could be aggravating our allergic reactions most of the time. I changed the detergent I was using to a better brand and then immediately our problems started to lessen. So after I got the same results with every load of laundry numerous times in a row, I decided that I should rewash everything in our house. Now, the only issue I have is that our dryer isn’t really working as well as it should. It seems as if I have to leave the loads in the dryer for numerous cycles just to get the fabric dry. So I asked our HVAC corporation if they ever cleaned dryer exhaust vents. They sent someone out the same day. They use a snaking apparatus that is linked to a power drill and the HVAC serviceman did all of the job from outside. He didn’t even have to move the dryer or come inside the house, which was good. Once he said he was finished, he told me to run the dryer for an hour to get rid of any additional lint that didn’t come out with the ventilation snake. Now that our dryer vent is all clean, it only takes 40 minutes to get the laundry dry.
