My wife Pat & I recently converted our sizable basement into an apartment! Pat and I had kept the basement for storage, & nothing more, for a long time, most of the junk that all of us had in the basement were things that all of us did not need anyway.
Pat and I decided to sell as much of the stuff in our basement as all of us could & throw much of the rest in the trash.
Then all of us decided to turn the basement into an apartment. One of the first things Pat realized was that it would somehow need temperature control. Pat and I considered extending the air duct of our central air conditioning into the basement. This would be a long, complicated, & fancy process that all of us ultimately did not want to have to go through. Thankfully, Pat discovered the ductless heating & A/C. Pat and I decided to install a small ductless Heating & A/C unit for the basement! A ductless unit consists of both an indoor & outdoor component without using any ducts. Once Pat converted the basement into a house & installed the ductless heating & A/C unit, I absolutely ended up wanting to hang out in our basement! Pat and I were going to rent out the space to a neighbor for extra money, even though Pat and I absolutely really started considering turning the modern lake house into my own personal cave. Pat wasn’t having any of it when she realized that I had grown connected to the basement & Pat insisted that all of us rent it out. That ductless air conditioning just made it so nice and comfortable down there!
