Furnace Maintenance is a good idea

The cost of a new furnace is a big investment.

I spent extra for the benefits of an Energy Star rated model.

My home’s heating system offers a 98% AFUE and includes adaptable-speed technology, zone control and multi-stage filtration. I have been extremely happy with the performance of the furnace. I want it to last as long as possible. Because of this, I take really good care of it. I make sure to change the air filter every month. I’ve also enrolled into a maintenance plan with a local HVAC contractor. I like that they call me in the fall and remind me when it’s time to schedule service. A technician comes to the house and provides a thorough inspection of all components. He completes an intensive cleaning that removes any buildup of dust and other contaminants that would otherwise restrict airflow and force the heater to work harder and run longer. The service includes tightening of electrical connections, lubrication of moving parts, examination of the heat exchanger and calibration of the thermostat. He uses state-of-the-art diagnostic software to confirm proper performance. Any worn or broken parts are replaced. Because of these tune-ups, the furnace continues to operate at peak energy efficiency and reliability. It costs less to run and should provide a longer service life. Plus, the proactive measures fulfill the demands of the manufacturer’s warranty. If there is a problem, I can count on the warranty. The maintenance plan offers extra perks such as priority scheduling, fifteen percent off repairs and no added charges for overtime scheduling.
