I couldn't help with the furnace because of the dog

I tried to be friendly with the dog, but he wasn’t prepared for an unannounced visitor in his home

I have the worst luck when it comes to dogs and cats. When I was 10 years old, a dog bit my leg and I needed seven stitches in the emergency room. I got bit by another dog when I was 15. Thank goodness, the bite did not require stitches. It took weeks and weeks for the wound to heal. No one would be surprised to hear that I have a healthy fear of cats and dogs. I don’t have any pets of my own and I don’t have a lot of friends with dogs either. I run into animals every once in a while on my job. I work as a heating and air conditioning repair technician. I usually work on residential jobs like homes and apartments. A few weeks ago, I ran into a terribly bad situation. I went to an apartment to work on a furnace repair. The tenant has a dog, but the dog was supposed to be locked in a bedroom behind a closed door. I knocked on the front door several times before I entered the apartment. I did not hear the dog bark once, so I assumed it was safe. I grabbed all of my tools and I started working on the furnace repair. I was halfway done when the dog snuck up behind me and started growling and snarling. I was stuck in a really bad situation. I tried to be friendly with the dog, but he wasn’t prepared for an unannounced visitor in his home. Thankfully, the dog never lunged or tried to bite me. He just sat there and snarled until I could leave the apartment.
