It is amazing how some people believe they know what’s best for your life. But before I get into that, let me give you a bit of background. When I was in school, I graduated top of my class, straight A’s student. It didn’t matter what subject it was, I just had a knack for naturally understanding the material and passing tests with flying colors. Because of this, I was always put in the advanced classes, and in those classes, I did great as well. My family and friends had great expectations for me, I am sure they were imagining me changing the world or something. However, changing the world was not something I wanted to do. I had no interest in playing a superhero, I just wanted to live a nice simplistic life, get married and have kids. When I decided to become a HVAC worker instead, the sour expression on my parent’s and friend’s faces were obvious. I even lost a few friends because of my decision to become something as lowly as a HVAC specialist. But I moved forward, unchanged by my friends and family’s opinions. It wasn’t until many years later, that I ended up proving how great being an A/C repairman was. Of my entire family, I was the only one making a decent living, and not in debt. Everyone else chose fancy majors and were in debt because of it. It also helped when my family had A/C related issues, so I could prove how useful my job actually is.
