I hate having to work on weekends

I really hate having to work on weekends, but when you’re an HVAC technician like I am, you have to learn to deal with working schedules that you don’t always like.

I usually like my job most of the time.

I like my heating and cooling clients, and my boss is pretty nice to me most of the time, too. I am really great at repairing oil furnaces, gas furnaces, and central air conditioning systems, if I do say so myself. But just being really good at your job doesn’t always mean that you get to set your own schedules and work whenever you feel like it. Since I am the HVAC technician at my company who has been there for the shortest length of time, I end up working the weekends and holidays more than anyone else does. That gets on my nerves a lot of the time, but I understand why it is the way that it is. I guess a lot of people can’t be home during the week to let me inside to do their air conditioning repairs or their furnace installations. A lot of people have to work outside the home at offices and so they don’t really want to leave their door unlocked just so some random HVAC technician can come in and fix their heating and cooling systems! I get it, but that’s why I end up having to work on the weekends so much. That’s just when people are able to set up the appointments with my company. It’s annoying, but you do what you have to do.
