Summer is always a hectic time during the year. There are a number of reasons why the days are so busy. First, all three of my children are out of school during the summer. I have one teenager and two kids in elementary school. I can leave the teenager home with the two kids, but they argue most of the day. I can’t stay home with them, because I have a full-time job. I am one of the only women in this state that work as an HVAC technician. When my husband and I got divorced, I decided to go to a trade to learn a new skill. I didn’t work a lot during our years together, and I didn’t want to end up working at a gas station to support my family. Since there are very few women in the HVAC industry, I was able to get a grant to pay for all of the classes. Of course it can be difficult to be the only woman working in a male-dominated field. I have to work harder than most people just to prove that I can do the same job. Summertime is always the busiest part of the entire year because of the heat and humidity in this tropical climate. I need to be able to rely on my teenager to watch the kids, because I can’t answer the phone 10 times a day at work. When I leave the house, my day is going to be busy. Just last week, I had to work five 10 hour days. I didn’t get home until dinner time.
