I was going to pour water on the fire until the Heating plus Air Conditioning specialist came running in.

Last week, I had an HVAC technician visiting my home to do some routine maintenance.

I was serving my family lunch while he was outside working.

In a clumsy moment, I accidentally started a grease fire. Now, my mom had taught me that grease fires are best put out by smothering them with a lid or throwing salt or baking soda on them. Why I started to put water on it, I can not tell you. However, at just the right moment, the HVAC technician came running into the house to stop me from trying to throw water on the fire. I put the glass down back in the sink and thanked him. Wasn’t sure where my head was at to cause me to try and put the grease fire out with water. The HVAC technician just said that he was glad he came over when he did. Had I thrown water onto that grease fire, my home may have actually burned down. Water actually spreads grease fires, so the fire would have spread everywhere around the kitchen. Me and my family are so lucky. Not only did the HVAC technician repair the air conditioner unit that day, he may very well have saved our house from burning down. I asked him what had caused him to rush into the kitchen right when I was about to throw water on the flames, and he said that he had seen the fire through the window and hurried inside to put it out. I cannot thank this HVAC technician enough!
