My neighbor lost his home to a fire thanks to the fireplace

I honestly feel so terrible for my neighbor, he is an elderly man, plus he just lost his dwelling.

It burned down.

I assume his fireplace caught his dwelling on fire while he was resting. He told myself and others that he didn’t typically take a nap while in the afternoon, although he was terribly sleepy that afternoon. He went to lie down, and evidently, a piece of wood that he had put in his fireplace fell out onto the carpet. It caught the carpet on fire plus spread throughout his entire downstairs area. Fortunately, he was woken up by the powerful aroma of the smoke. He was able to get out in the nick of time. He lost basically everything in the downstairs of his dwelling. I told him that he could stay with myself and others for as long as he needs to. I have a spare bedroom that he is using now. He plans to rebuild his dwelling. He has lived there for roughly forty years, plus he does not want to relocate. It was the only dwelling that he plus his spouse lived in together. He said that he will not be adding a fireplace to his new place though. He is super anxious about it now. I completely understand, of course. He said that he has never lived in a dwelling separate from a fireplace, so it will be entirely weird at first, although he just doesn’t want to risk catching it on fire again. He is considering using an electric fireplace instead. I told him that would be a fantastic option. I am super thankful that he is safe plus is able to rebuild on his own land.
