My neighbor’s home burned down because of the fireplace

I truly feel awful for my neighbor, she is an elderly woman, as well as she just lost her household! It burned down.

I guess her fireplace caught her household on fire while she was sleeping.

She told me that she didn’t usually take a nap during the day, but she was entirely sleepy that day. She went to lie down, and apparently, a piece of wood that she had put in her fireplace fell out onto the carpet. It caught the carpet on fire as well as spread throughout her entire downstairs area. Thankfully, she was woken up by the odor of the smoke. She was able to get out in time. She lost almost everything in the downstairs of her household. I told her that she could stay with me for as long as she needed to. I have a spare bedroom that she is using. She plans to rebuild her household. She has lived there for over forty years, as well as she does not want to relocate. It was the only household that she as well as her husband lived in together. She said that she will not be adding a fireplace to her new household though. She is super upset about it now. I totally understand, of course. She said that she has never lived in a household without a fireplace, so it will be weird at first, but she just doesn’t want to risk catching it on fire all over again. She is thinking about maybe using an electric fireplace instead. I told her that would be a great option. I am super thankful that she is safe as well as is able to rebuild on her land.
