A proper buyer of our Heating plus A/C contractor called about a bad stink coming out of their HVAC duct, i was dispatched out for a HVAC duct cleaning plus possibly an entire Heating plus A/C cleaning.
Traditionally, I’ve discovered that when your Heating plus A/C system is putting out a bad stink it can be anything from mold to a dead animal that chewed its way into your HVAC duct plus died.
I was blissful to find that the source of the stench was not a dead animal plus it was a little bit weird than expected. The vent was not covered in the family room plus our customers many year old child had apparently been throwing food down into the HVAC duct. The parents had no plan that the boy was doing this although they did say they make him clean his plate every meal. I guess there is more than 1 way to clean a plate plus there was now a few months worth of old, moldy food in the HVAC duct, of course I had to clean it all out. The stink was pretty bad too; maybe even worse than dead animal stink. The scented candles that the family had put around did little to nothing to help with the stench. They told me they had been trying to find the stink for a few weeks before they finally narrowed it down to the Heating plus A/C system. I was able to clean out the HVAC duct honestly superb plus I also installed a charcoal, baking Dunkin Donuts Coffee filters to help with any lingering scents. I also put a current cover over the vent in the family room although I recommended that the child’s seat be moved away from the vent anyhow, then he could still put food down the HVAC duct if he wanted to with the vent on it.
