I was absolutely and totally miserable.
When my brother and I were seventeen, my mom let us attend an outdoor concert that lasted all day long. My brother drove the two of us to the concert destination, which was about an hour away from our home. My mom made us fill the car with gas and she made us take extra oil and water just in case there were problems with the car. She was very concerned that we would end up stranded on the side of the road. This was long before the age of cell phones.My brother and I left home after lunch and we made it to the concert venue just as the second band was leaving the stage. The weather was extremely hot and humid that day and everyone was miserable. The hot sun was beating down on my arms and my face. After a couple of hours, I had a sunburn. There wasn’t a single place at the concert venue with AC. Even the drink and food stands did not have AC. I was absolutely and totally miserable. After the 6th band performed, I headed out to the car to sit in the AC for a few minutes. I fell asleep with the car running and my brother came to find me before the last band reached the stage. The car engine and the AC had been running nonstop for the whole hour. My brother was a little aggravated about me sleeping in the car, but thank goodness we didn’t run out of gas on the way home from the concert.
