Wanting Heating and A/C options for our new home

My partner and I have decided that instead of trying to buy a new home that meets our identifiable needs, the two of us are going to have our new home built.

  • It doesn’t definitely cost much more than buying a house.

Some people seem to suppose it’s twice the cost to build your own home, but (if you’re smart about it) the cost just about equals out. We’ve been working on this for a while and now the two of us are at the Heating and A/C replacement phase of the process. I’ll have to admit, I didn’t realize there was so much variety in the Heating and A/C world. I mean, I knew the two of us wanted a smart control unit to keep costs down and I knew that purchasing a oil furnace and cooling system with a good SEER rating always helps, but this is a whole other world for us. We’re considering the use of a boiler rather than a oil furnace because it produces cleaner air and keeps heating costs down. Although, I worry about boiler leaks. That would be devastating in a new new home especially. We are also looking at ductless, multi split a/c rather than the ducted a/c we’ve always had. The multi split a/c can last a lifetime and it looks easily sleek as well. We’ve looked into heat pumps and hybrid heating, but after the two of us did our research the two of us decided against the extra cost. Plus, the two of us live in an environment with pretty cold winters and heat pumps don’t tend to do as well. If any of you who labor in the new home comfort supplier have any suggestions, please let us know! We could sure use your help!
