Doing a youth fitness camp

I got conned into coaching my son’s middle school soccer team.

I didn’t know anything about coaching or soccer when I started.

I didn’t want to be a total failure and have the boys embarrassed to play. I have done so much research and taken every step possible for our team to be successful. I have read books, watched soccer games and talked to other coaches to figure out what I need to do. A big part of soccer is cardio and being able to stay in the game. There is a lot of running in soccer and it is a long match. I needed to get the boys in shape. Thankfully my brother works as a personal trainer at the core progression near me. I was able to score a deal on a youth fitness camp over the summer. Three days a week the boys went to the core progression where my brother trained them. He had the boys learning to stretch properly, try different workouts and got them all in shape. The kids absolutely loved going to the gym to work out. They found all the drills fun and liked competing with each other. The other two days of practice we worked on actually playing soccer and bonding as a team. Our season is just about to start and I am feeling really confident. Even if my boys don’t remember how to do anything soccer related, at least they are all in shape and can stay in the game. There is no way they will be embarrassed now to play.
