There were gaps in the ductwork

The old cabin had been part of our family for a long time! It belonged to my good uncle, who left it in an awful state.

The two of us used it occasionally to host a celebration but never thought about repairing it.

The rooms were intact, however the cabin needed a replacement! Most of the furniture was old and falling apart. That was the same case with the interior, which we had hoped to work on one afternoon. After we got an inheritance attached to the old house, we decided to take the plunge. We had held a celebration at the old home a few weeks back and turned on the AC system. It was wintertime and the heat was a must in such a space. The old cabin had an aging HVAC idea that we had to repair many times to get to work, before we could decide to update it, we had an offer to host one more celebration. That meant some money was coming in, which we could use for the replacement. It was my job to make sure everything was in order, including the furnace. I went to turn it on, but it was not responsive. My worry was the AC equipment had finally given up and broken down completely. My brother urged me to call in an Ac worker to come and check it out. I got on the cellphone with the AC supplier in the city and booked an appointment. A few hours later, an aircon professional was at the old home diagnosing the AC issue, he noted that the a/c in the cabin was affected by critters. It turns out rats had built nests in the air duct when we last had the AC on to escape the freezing wintertime. The nests and accumulated debris were preventing airflow, which caused the AC to stop working. Much of the air duct was still intact, but there were gaps where the critters had gotten in.
