I thought that by this time in my life, I would not be as upset with my financial status.
Boy, was I ever wrong.
Coming up as a young man, it was still the model to get a wonderful task, keep it, achieve success and then ride that to retirement. Well, that all changed however not after I had completed the cycle. Now, I find myself in my early fifties with a family to supply for and scrambling to bring in a living. I was essentially unconnectd from my task because I made too much cash and crossed that 50 year aged threshold. They could find someone to update me for a sixth of what I was making. In the space of one afternoon, I kissed that perfectly HVAC controlled, corner office goodbye. The next thing I know, I’m clearing out a guest room in my beach home to transform into my new office. And let me tell you, it was neither a corner office with a wonderful view or perfectly HVAC controlled. But, I had to make the best of it and get hustling to corral some aged contacts to beginning my own consulting agency. That section was more fruitful much quicker than I thought it would be thank goodness. However, the beach family room needed some real help. Initially, I was just in that aged guest room with my phone, laptop and a card table. That just wasn’t getting it done. I had our handy guy come out and put in another large window. Then, I got the requisite office device along with a wonderful desk and a wonderful chair. Finally, I had the HVAC company come in and put a dedicated ductless heating and cooling component in my new office. It’s nice to have my own thermostat again.
