Double stacking air filters

I did the little things that I could do before my HVAC technician comes to do its annual maintenance

The other day I did a major cleaning of my house. It wasn’t spring cleaning it was more like winter cleaning. I had a lot of unnecessary items in my house that I thought made my home very cluttered. I had a lot of knick-knacks on my furniture that I did not need anymore. I went through a knick-knack stage where I would buy knick-knacks that I really liked and put them all over my home. Now that I’m trying to minimize what I have in my house and make it a bit more modern, I decided to get rid of all of them. I cleaned my house from head to toe, I dusted the walls and furniture, and scrubbed all of the floors. I wanted to get rid of a lot of other things upstairs in my attic. So I thought it’d be a good idea to put some stuff downstairs in my basement so when there’s warmer weather I can have a garage sale. Part of my winter cleaning was also maintaining my HVAC system. I did the little things that I could do before my HVAC technician comes to do its annual maintenance. I decided to change my air filters, it can take two air filters that are the size of 20X20X1 or I have heard that I can also by a 20X40X1. I have heard that it is normally not recommended to stack air filters. The best answer that I can get is by contacting my HVAC provider to see what he thinks is a good idea.
