Falling ladder dings my truck

I sat in traffic for almost an hour yesterday on my way home from work.

It’s not uncommon to sit in traffic, because I work in the city and I live in the country.

Everyone in the city leaves at the same time and the roads are always filled with cars, trucks, and vans. Traffic was backed up due to an accident and I was sitting behind an HVAC work truck. As soon as the HVAC work truck started moving slowly, I could tell that the ladder on top of the truck was not secured properly. It was moving and bouncing at 5 miles an hour. When traffic finally cleared and the HVAC work truck started going faster, the ladder fell on the highway and hit my truck. The HVAC truck kept on going and I doubt the driver even realized that he lost the ladder. I had to pull over on the side of the road. I moved the ladder and I wrote down the number for the HVAC company. I called the owner of the company and told him about the accident. The owner of the company was very apologetic and offered to pay for any damage to my vehicle. The driver of the truck didn’t realize the ladder was missing until the next day. The owner of the HVAC repair shop paid for the damage to my truck, which included a new bumper and paint job. He also performed a free tune-up on the air conditioner in my home. The experience could have been much worse, but the owner was really great.
