I tried to tell the boss about the customer

I had a terrible exchange with a customer this week and I was worried that my boss was going to write me up for my actions.

  • The customer called the HVAC repair center, because his furnace was not engaging at all.

Every time the guy turned on the thermostat, the furnace did absolutely nothing. I’ve had a couple of run-ins with this particular customer in the past. When the boss assigned me to this particular job, I urged him to send someone else. I knew the customer was not going to be happy to see me. My boss told me that we don’t get to pick our customers and he told me to start moving. As soon as the customer saw me, he immediately requested a different HVAC repair technician. I told the customer that we were very busy and there was no one else to help. The guy refused to even let me come into the house. I called my boss and he was already on the phone with the customer. I tried to tell my boss that it was going to be a problem to send me to this particular HVAC repair, but he did not believe me. He certainly knew I was serious, after the customer called to request a different HVAC repair technician. He really wasn’t going to let me onto the property after the last time we had a confrontation about the furnace. It’s the only time I have ever had a person refuse to let me service their heating or AC equipment.
