It’s weird how things happen.
The interconnectedness of experiences and scenarios in my life often blow my mind.
Perhaps this is because I have a perspective about my life that allows for the recognition of what others might simply overlook. It’s not like I hold my life under some sort of mystical microscope. I’m just like most guys. I like to come home and have a cold beer in the comfort of the HVAC after work. However, that cold beer isn’t all that fun when the air feels as cold as the beer. That had been the case for the first 2 winters in our home. I was new to the north so, I just sort of expected it I guess. But, when I told a colleague about the constantly drafty cold in my HVAC controlled house during winter, he said that didn’t sound right. That got me to thinking that perhaps there was something that I was missing. A couple of days later, I’m at my little work bench in the garage. I was looking for something when I ran across a gag gift from a buddy. This friend of mine gave me one of those instant read temp guns. It was a joke about moving north and how soft I am when it comes to cold weather. That’s when it dawned on me. I picked up the temp gun and started walking the perimeter of my home taking temp readings. What I found was a whole lot of places that were letting HVAC treated air out and cold air in. I marked them all and over a month, I was able to seal them all. Interesting how that temp gun just showed itself.
