I didn’t want to stay at work late on Friday night, but my boss offered to pay everyone overtime and buy pizzas for lunch the next weekend.
- We were having a state inspection and all of the paperwork needed to be filed and completed.
We were making sure that all of the t’s were crossed and all of the I’s were dotted. It’s tedious work, but someone needed to stay to make sure that it was done. A few of my co-workers and I offered to complete the paperwork. My boss left at 7 p.m. and the three of us were there by ourselves to complete the work. I thought the boss was going to stay with us and I was pretty aggravated when he went home. None of us went home at dinner time so we could help him with the paperwork and he left early to be with his family. I was already frustrated when the boss left. When the AC in the break room stopped blowing cold air, I wasn’t going to sit there any longer. I tried to tap the air conditioner lightly and I turned all of the buttons on and off. I even gently kicked the air conditioner, but nothing seemed to work. I told my co-workers that I wasn’t going to stay one minute longer. They agreed that it was awful circumstances. The AC wasn’t working and the boss wasn’t even there to help. Everything was dropped into our lap and it honestly wasn’t our responsibility to make sure that the paperwork was completed for the state inspection.
