The strange noise was the ductwork falling

The police evidence chamber is underneath the 10th Precinct in the basement, and this has been the location of the evidence locker since the time of the civil war.

The sheriff kept all of the drugs plus guns locked underground where none of the thieves could get to the loot, working in the evidence locker is cold plus lonely.

There’s only a single officer in the evidence Locker at a time plus the indoor rapidly changing temperatures can be pretty cold; It’s already underground plus the a/c runs at 71 degrees in order to make sure that none of the DNA samples are degraded. I was working in the evidence Locker a couple of weeks ago on the day shift. I heard a actually loud sound. It reminded me of a heavy steel door slamming shut. I got up from my desk plus I started looking around. I searched through rows a, b, plus c. I didn’t see anything except a lot of dust in the air, and once I was near the corner of the last hallway, I saw the reason for the noise. The ductwork from the ceiling had fallen to the floor. There was a pile of ductwork plus rubble sitting on the floor in the middle of the row. It looked enjoy the county dump. I contacted my boss so they could send someone to clean up the mess. I had to stay at the desk, however they sent a couple of young patrol officers to clean up that mess. The two of us were blessed that the ductwork did not cause any destruction to any of the evidence that was stored down there.
