For a few months, my partner and I were being shuffled back and forth between parking lots and fairgrounds, while waiting for flood waters to recede. My buddy and I could take our camper along with us, however there was no water to hook up to which was unfortunate. Thanks to the owners of the spaces that were being let to the people, there were portable shower containers and portable restrooms all around. The first time I used the portable shower container, I was basically thinking that I had died and gone to heaven. It had been a few weeks since I had a wonderful shower, and I loved the luxury of standing under the steady stream of water for a good period of time. Within a week after my buddy and I got to the fairgrounds, at least one hundred more families had moved in the area. The owner of the section had to bring in four extra portable shower containers and numerous extra portable restrooms. It made things somewhat hectic, however it was genuinely a blessing for those of us who didn’t have enough space to call home over that time. Now that my buddy and I are back in our households and no longer living in our campers, I adore running boiling and chilly water and I don’t need to share a portable shower container or a portable restroom with other people in the area. I forgot how wonderful it was to have privacy, even if I miss some buddies I met while moving around. As much as I miss those people, I would not go back to using portable shower containers and portable restrooms unless it was an emergency of sorts.
