They complained about his attitude

I hired a new employee about 10 days ago and I have already had numerous complaints about him.

I was hopeful that he was going to work out.

I had high hopes for the mature Heating and A/C maintenance expert with such experience in commercial and residential repairs. He had great letters of recommendation and I was impressed with his work history. The guy has 10 years of experience working on heating and A/C related repairs. However, he is not a warm person. I had numerous complaints this week from my clients who all said the same thing. They complained the guy wasn’t warm. Attitude is a priority in this industry due to the fact that we do maintenance for our customers. If they don’t hire us again, we don’t get repeat maintenance and that means that the sales take a nosedive. There are many heating and a/c maintenance services and I want customers to phone me first. After I got the first complaint about the guy’s demeanor, I asked him to come to my office and had a talk about being more personable. The guy seemed to grasp my request, however that same day I got another complaint from customers. I had to reassure them that things would be different next time, so that was the last time that I sent the guy out to work for me. I own a small company and it’s vital that experts work hard and are warm to the customers. I have no room on my staff for a guy that cannot smile and be friendly.
