This summer was so much better with new residential HVAC

It’s been the best summer when it comes to living inside our house.

Where we live, our biggest climate challenge is for sure the summer heat and humidity.

For a lot of people, the HVAC cooling can start in March and not go off until November. Now most of those homes are occupied by folks who really aren’t from here. That’s far too much HVAC cooling for me or for anyone else that I know who’s from here. It’s so funny to listen early in the spring to the heat pumps that come on in the neighborhood. And everyone of them is a house owned by folks who came from up north. I just can’t imagine that much HVAC cooling and the utility bills must just be outrageous as well. Yet, none of us can do without HVAC cooling with our central air conditioning inside home or office once the summer heat sets in. And for years, we’ve sort of been limping along with a heat pump that just has seen better days. But we were trying to save up for new residential HVAC in the process of dealing with the financial strain of the pandemic. So it took us a while. Last summer was the toughest. We set the thermostat so high just to lessen the demand on the old heat pump that it was really warm in the house. So once we got to fall, we hit the finish line and were able to call the HVAC contractor. Once we got the new heat pump and all the rest of the new residential HVAC, it was winter. And we just don’t really use the heat pump in the winter much. So we really didn’t know what it could do til this past June.
