You have to study hard and continue to learn long after school is done. It doesn’t matter what type of field you are in. Technology is constantly changing and that means that every single career is affected. Each year, I attend a seminar for work to update me on the latest technology and trends in the HVAC industry. To be the best, you have to study and work hard. I have been a Nate certified engineer for the past 3 years. I received my Nate certification for HVAC work. The Nate certification is not necessary in my industry, but it sets me apart from others. It was much easier to get a job in the HVAC industry after I was Nate certified and the certification lasts for 2 years. I earn a premium pay for being certified and I often get special treatment from the boss. He sends me out to evaluations and estimates that need to be done. Because of my special training and certification, I can handle this type of work. There are only a couple of technicians that can provide these estimates with knowledge and accuracy. My coworkers are starting to see the preferential treatment. Someone said something to me last week. I was supposed to go out to an installation job. It was a rooftop AC and no one was looking forward to the job in the heat. I was prepared to go and help with the job and my boss pulled me out at the last minute.
