Now that my parents are starting to get older and less able I have made it a priority to carve out time to see them on a regular basis.
Thankfully I have a job that allows me to work a flexible schedule so I am able to visit them whenever I feel the need.
There are always at least a few things that I need to help my parents with whenever I come back home. One visit will be that they need to have a new television installed onto the wall, and the next they will have a mice problem that they haven’t been able to get under control. On my latest visit to see my parents I ended up finding that they had a run down air conditioning unit that needed to be addressed. I have always been a pretty handy person by nature, but taking on the task of repairing or completely replacing an air conditioning unit is way beyond my skill level. Fortunately I was able to find a local HVAC company that seemed to be reputable and I gave them a call. Within the hour they were able to send out a certified HVAC repair tech who was friendly and kind to my parents. Once he was done with the repair my parents house finally started to feel less like a sauna and more like a home people can actually live in. It worries me that my parents aren’t able to fix problems like this around the home anymore, but at least that gives me more reason and motivation to come and visit them often as they start to get older.
