What is the official temperature for the temperature control in the Winter?

Winter time can honestly be unpredictable, and the season can honestly take a toll on us, and if you live in a state that gets a lot of snow, it can be hard to do everyday tasks if there is too much snow outside; And if you have ever dug out a car from the snow, you would understand how daunting that task can be, however hence the reason, I have chosen to live in the Southern section of the country, during the Winter, the two of us don’t get any snow and thankfully, the season is usually mild.

  • Inside our lake house is also comfortable and oftentimes, I barely use our central heating.

During most of the Winter time the temperature in our lake house usually fluctuates between 65 and 72 degrees, then there are times when it does drop down into the high 50s or lower 60s. Although rare, those are the times where our central heating component kicks in. I have the temperature control set on the suggested temperature from the U.S. Department of Energy. According to the organization, the ideal temperature for the temperature control is 74 degrees when you are home, so, if I am having a mild Winter time season, it means that our central heating barely kicks in… Because I don’t use our central heating a lot while in the colder section of the year, it means that I see a large saving on our energy bill. However, while in the Summer, our central runs every afternoon. So, although I save on energy bills while in the Winter, that savings is used to cover the cost of cooling our lake house in the Summer.
