What is the official temperature for the thermostat in the Winter?

Winter time can entirely be unpredictable, & the season can entirely take a toll on us; If you live in a state that gets a lot of snow, it can be difficult to do everyday tasks if there is too much snow outside, and if you have ever dug out a car from the snow, you would understand how daunting that task can be, then hence the reason, I have chosen to live in the Southern section of the country; During the Winter, the two of us don’t get any snow & thankfully, the season is usually mild.

Inside my beach house is also comfortable & oftentimes, I barely use my central heating.

During most of the Winter time the temperature in my beach house usually fluctuates between 65 & 75 degrees, but there are times when it does drop down into the high 50s or lower 60s. Although rare, those are the times where my central heating unit kicks in. I have the thermostat set on the recommended temperature from the U.S. Department of Energy. According to the organization, the ideal temperature for the thermostat is 75 degrees when you are home, and so, if I am having a mild Winter time season, it means that my central heating barely kicks in, then because I don’t use my central heating a lot during the colder section of the year, it means that I see a immense saving on my energy bill. However, during the Summer, my central a/c runs every afternoon. So, but I save on energy bills during the Winter, that savings is used to cover the cost of cooling my apartment in the Summer.
