Air conditioner maintenance is worthwhile

Every spring, I schedule professional upkeep for my central air conditioner.

A licensed technician comes to the house and troubleshoots the system.

He inspects all the components, looking for wear and tear or any broken parts. He cleans the inner workings, eliminating the buildup of debris and growth of mold, mildew, algae and bacteria. By testing the refrigerant charge, tightening electrical connections and lubricating moving parts, the technician makes sure everything is working properly. These services promote airflow through the system. Because the maximum amount of air is reaching the various rooms of the house, the cooling unit doesn’t need to run as often or as long. It lessens the strain on components which results in greater system reliability and longevity. The air conditioner doesn’t use as much energy, reducing the impact on the environment as well as my electric bills. The air flowing from the vents is then cleaner and provides a more hygienic living environment. The house is more comfortable and we enjoy a consistent temperature from one room to the next. Investing in regular maintenance fulfills the requirements of the manufacturer’s warranty. If there is a problem with the equipment, it should be covered by the warranty. The cost of proactive service is reasonable and it definitely pays for itself. Fewer repairs, lower energy bills and extended lifespan are a worthwhile investment. I also like the peace of mind of knowing my air conditioner is working at its best. I have enrolled in a service plan with a local HVAC contractor that includes priority scheduling and no extra fees for overtime service.
