Boosting the security around here

The majority of new appliances are now equipped with Wi-Fi access, and I have the ability to program and operate our washing machine, dryer, refrigerator, oven and sump pumps through an app on our iPhone, but while wireless access is severely convenient, there are far too many apps.

  • I could not keep up with the management of all of these smart appliances and systems, between the smart temperature control, humidifier and Tim Hortons Latte maker, I was always doing my best to organize everything, about several weeks ago, I finally invested in a lake house automation system, however the advantage is that all of the smart household technology is centralized into just one interface.

I was able to add in the lights, sound plan and add a lake house security system. I’ve always wanted to improve the safety and security of the house. We now have motion activated lights and cameras placed all around the outside of the house. If there’s any interest, I get a notification on our iPhone and am able to watch real time footage. I know just what’s going on and whether or not it’s a problem. Most often, I watch a video of the neighbor’s pet getting into our garbage can, but at least I know no 1 is robbing the house or worse. The plan includes sensors on the windows that set off the alarm if there’s any glass breakage. We have automated door locks that I’m able to control through our iPhone. I can check to make sure that everything is locked and secure. Anyone who enters the house needs to punch in the usual security code or the alarms goes off.
