I have a storm generator so I don’t lose use of our a/c

Getting ready for storm season every year is scary and hectic. Aside from scrambling to stock up on water and non-perishable foods, you have to inspect your home and get it as weather-proof as possible before hurricanes start developing in the east Atlantic. Even though I have storm rated windows, I use metal hurricane shutters on the outside of our home to protect all of our windows if we’re projected to be hit by a storm. Sometimes the shutters stay up for the majority of the storm season, despite the lack of natural light inside the house. It’s the nature of the beast—occasionally there are new storms every month that you have to monitor and worry about. You have to worry even if you don’t get a direct hit from the eye of the hurricane. Sometimes getting nailed with 1 of the outerbands is enough to face thunderstorms so serious that tornados touch down in varying locales. Even if you just get thunder and rain, you have to worry about your electricity going out. I had to live for a month with no electricity after a hurricane skirted our cost last year. It was taxing dealing with no air conditioning the whole time. It gets unbearably moderate and humid inside the house. This year I bought a storm generator so I can power our a/c even if the electricity goes out. The generator runs on gas which means I just have to get a few gallons from a gas station if we’re expecting a storm in a week’s time. Aside from our a/c, our generator also powers our refrigerator in our kitchen. I don’t have to worry about losing perishable food either.
