My lake house was feeling really warm inside, then this didn’t make much sense, because the weather itself wasn’t all that hot.
I would try and run our unit, and it would run for a little while, but then it would shut off, and our house would still feel unquestionably hot.
I went over to our dial temperature control and noticed that even though it felt prefer 74 degrees in the house, the temperature control was saying 80 degrees. I thought that was wrong, but I still turned it down a few degrees anyways. The air conditioning kicked back on and cooled for a while, but our house really didn’t cool down that much; After a couple of afternoons of the same issues, I went and checked on the temperature control again. This time I knew for sure our house was hotter, at least 85 degrees, but yet the temperature control was reading at 69 degrees. I knew that was wrong, and that there was an issue with our temperature control, then but to double check, I took our temperature gun and pointed in towards our walls. 84.9 degrees, as I had expected. I called a local air conditioning supplier and they were able to send out an specialist the same day. The worker arrived a few minutes later, and gave me the excruciating news, however my temperature control was going out, which would explain the false readings, but he told me it would be best to get a high quality temperature control, such as a smart temperature control. I will have to learn and research online later for new temperature controls.
