We are big travellers in our family! We are fortunate enough to be able to do so just about every other school vacation. This year, we decided we wanted to go somewhere with a warm climate but a very historic vibe – where we live it was finally starting to feel like spring, but it was not quick enough yet! We wanted fresh air and historic buildings and we wanted them now! We leave our thermostat on at 68 degrees when we leave the house and it is no longer winter so that is exactly what we did. The forecast looked great but in the northeast, you never know what could happen! During our second week away, a snow storm was headed right to our part of the country and I was nervous about our pipes freezing because the thermostat was set to 68 degrees and we had no thoughts of it snowing while we were away! If our pipes would freeze we would surely have a mess when we got home, not to mention I definitely didn’t want air conditioning running to make matters worse! Thank goodness we have a smart thermostat, I immediately had my husband open his app on his smartphone for the thermostat control and set our house to 75 degrees to ensure we would have heat coming out of our radiators and no pipes would have a chance of freezing! This was a huge lifesaver because had we not had that smart thermostat installed last year, we would have had no way of changing the thermostat temperature!
