We have been having some trouble with the HVAC system in our new home and it has driven my husband crazy for the past 2 weeks.
The main issue that we have been having is the cooling system in the great room.
The great room is attached to the kitchen and it’s two and a half stories. The ceiling in that room is a vaulted ceiling and there is a big fireplace in there with a huge chimney and mantel in the corner. I love the way that the room looks but the indoor air quality in that room is always just terrible. The air conditioning in the great room during the summer has been absolutely the worst. At first, I thought that the central air conditioning system was just on the blink or something and it just wasn’t working in the living room for some reason. However, the air conditioning was working just fine throughout the rest of the house. It just wasn’t working the right way in the great room. My husband and I have thought about it for a long time and we have decided that in order to get our heating and cooling bills lowered because of the great room, we are going to just have to go ahead and get a different kind of HVAC unit for that room. I think that we are going to have to purchase a wall mounted HVAC unit for that room. We are going to purchase something called a ductless mini split air conditioning system. You don’t have to have any ductwork with this kind of HVAC unit.
