Installing a new AC in the RV

My wife and I decided to buy an RV this summer.

  • We had many good reasons to buy the RV, but the top reason was to travel around the country.

We sold our house and our expensive car. We traded these items for a new RV and older truck with a bigger diesel engine. We were on the road for less than two weeks, before we had to buy a new AC unit for the RV. It happened very suddenly one day. We woke up early to eat breakfast. We were going to take a hike in the desert and we wanted to get an early start before the sun was high and heavy. I was in the shower when my wife mentioned the AC wasn’t cooling. The vent was open and the AC was running, but my wife couldn’t feel any air flow. I tried to troubleshoot the AC problem without any help, but even videos on the internet didn’t help me solve the problem. I had to break down and call a mobile RV mechanic. Luckily, we found someone that could help on the same day. The mobile mechanic fees were outrageous, but I couldn’t fix the AC without help. We were thankful someone could help on the same day. The mobile RV mechanic climbed up on top of the roof to examine the AC. After a few minutes, he came down the ladder and delivered the news. The problem was fixed and the issue was minor. Our intake vent was blocked by leaves and debris. The blocked vent was keeping the AC was working properly.
