The other day I assisted someone with AC maintenance and I didn’t get paid once the job was complete.
- This person wanted to write a check for the services, but I instructed him that I’d rather send him a bill.
I tried to reach them by cellphone numerous times after I sent out the invoice. I never got a response. I was sure the guy had to get the information, because I sent it right to the address where I did all that work. I tried to reach the owner numerous times to settle the bill and later opted to show up at his lake house without calling to let him know I was on my way. The guy was so surprised to see me at his front door. He was entertaining some friends at the time. My plan wasn’t to cause trouble, so I told the guy that I wanted to talk to him about some business if he had some time. He requested I give him a moment, and added he would meet me outside in my truck. I went out to the truck and he never showed up. A police officer came to the address soon after and instructed me to leave. The owner of the lake house complained that I was trespassing on his property. He complained that I was there soliciting for money. The officer told me that it was best to leave the property and take it up with a small claims court.
