The cabin needs better insulation

My wife and I bought a cabin from a client at work.

We knew that the cabin needed some work, but we really didn’t know much about the place.

The client needed to get rid of the property quickly, and he offered to sell it to us for pennies on the dollar. We jumped at the opportunity to own a piece of property by the lake. The first time we had a chance to see the cabin, we were relatively happy with our purchase. There is a great view from the porch. The place has a very sturdy foundation and the property has a lot of charm. There is a very small stream that runs through the back of the property and the acre up front is mostly wooded and very secluded. My wife and I stayed at the cabin for a couple of days in September, so we could make a list of everything that needed to be addressed in the spring. One thing that we noticed right away was the lack of insulation in the cabin. It was very cold and it felt like we were still outside when we were indoors. Insulation would help lower our heating costs if we ever planned to spend any length of time in the cabin during the cold, winter months. The cabin needs a new furnace as well. The old furnace is gas and I prefer electric. It’s too hard to get the gas company out to the lake in the middle of the winter if the furnace runs out. I would much rather have an electric furnace instead.
