For me, working as an HVAC technician is really fun and rewarding most of the time.
I usually like my job and I even like most of my co-workers, too.
I have a great boss and I get to pick my own hours most of the time. No, I really can’t complain about my job and I am actually really thankful that I decided to go and earn my HVAC certification when I graduated from high school all those years ago. I feel like I have done really well with my life, at least up until this point. Actually, the only part that I really don’t like about my job are the house calls that I have to make during holidays and late at night. Once in a while, we get a call for an emergency heating and cooling repair that needs to be done somewhere in the middle of the night. I really hate that. I always feel a little bit creeped out whenever I have to go out and work on a furnace or an air conditioning down in someone’s dark basement in the middle of the night all by myself. I mean, I’m a big guy and I feel like I can take care of myself, but it’s still creepy. You just never know what you’re going to run into these days because there are so many crazy people out there. I could do without making one of those emergency house calls again, but it’s just part of the job. I guess I’m probably going to have to continue to do it once in a while but I won’t ever volunteer for it.
