Carpooling to the gym with a friend

When I heard that my friend Linda and I were members at the same gym, I asked if she’d want to carpool.

The commute is around twenty-five minutes, and it seemed like an opportunity to save on gas and enjoy some conversation.

I wasn’t aware that she and I utilize the gym in two entirely different ways. I am extremely focused on my fitness and health. I workout in some fashion every single day and like to head to the gym at least four or five times per week. If I’m going to invest in the membership fees and make the drive, I intend to get the most out of my efforts. I devote at least an hour working out at the gym. I take advantage of as many of the machines as possible. I sometimes sprint on the treadmill for half an hour and then switch to the stationary bike for another half hour. I might use the elliptical for the entire hour or progress through each one of the strength training machines. I like lifting weights, lifting kettlebells and punching the speed bag and heavy bag. I perform sets of lunges, squats, push-ups, pull-ups and various abdominal crunches. By the time I’ve completed my full workout, I’m breathing hard and drenched with dripping sweat. I definitely require a shower and change of clothes. Linda strictly wants to use the gym once or twice per week, and she only wants to be there for about 30 minutes. She mainly sticks to the tanning beds. Now and then she might sign up for a massage. She might pedal a bike while reading on her ipad. She never gets hot or sweaty and never bothers with a shower in the locker rooms. Whenever she and I go to the gym together, she assures me that I should take my time. However, I feel like I need to cut my workout short.
