Make sure HVAC and house are ready for Winter

I still feel good about something I did almost a year ago.

That’s pretty unusual for me considering that I can’t even remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

But the fact is, I saved a bunch of money on heating costs this past Winter and I’m still feeling good about it. That’s because the heating bills can crush our finances since our Winter is so cold and long. Between inflation and the additional rise in heating costs, I had to do something. For me to take on any sort of household project is not common. I’m neither mechanically inclined or motivationally inclined to do stuff around the house. But I also can’t afford not to do stuff because calling a service can end up costing me way more than I need to spend. So with the Winter prep on my house, I had an ace in the hole with the local HVAC company. They have a website that is so incredibly informative. There’s not much that isn’t on there when it comes to heating and cooling. Sure enough, they had an entire page devoted to prepping a home for Winter. The basic idea is to seal up the house as tight as possible. This keeps the cold air out and the heating in. Plus, a tight seal on a house will vastly improve the efficiency of a gas furnace. And that’s for sure what I was looking for. I went step by step and followed the directions from the HVAC company. And of course, I got the necessary heating maintenance as well. Well, I’m still smiling about that as we go into Summer because we saved hundreds of dollars in heating costs.
