It got quite a chuckle out of all the other gentlemen at the Heating & A/C company but I did not like that chuckle being at my expense.
I never thought of myself as looking young, but then most of the people I knew were my age. I was 22, & yet almost everyone thought I was just a teenager, but after getting my Heating & A/C technical certificate, I was upset to get out into the field & do some work. I joined the local Heating & A/C company as 1 of their Heating & A/C professionals, & I was passionate it. It wasn’t until they let myself and others go out on a call by myself, that I realized I was going to be a bit of a problem. The first apartment that I was assigned to go to to do a service on their furnace, had myself and others sitting out on the porch. The older man who owned the house, was afraid to let myself and others into the house, he even called myself and others a juvenile delinquent, & told myself and others to go back to school. I showed his my Heating & A/C identification tag, but he thought I had taken it from someone else. I had to call my boss, & have him give his a call to let his know that it was okay to let myself and others into the house. It got quite a chuckle out of all the other gentlemen at the Heating & A/C company but I did not like that chuckle being at my expense. The minute furnace service that they sent myself and others out on, had an older gentleman ready to call the police. I showed him my badge that had all my ID information including my picture. He still wasn’t having any of it. He insisted I had to install the tag & put a fake picture in it, & there was no swaying him, once again, my boss had to intervene so I could get the task done
