After work, I wanted to go home and go to bed

Friday was one of the longest days that I can remember having to endure in a long time.

  • Summer days are always long, simply because the sun is out for a longer period of time.

The days are longer and there are more hours of sunlight. The work days are naturally longer, because we don’t quit until the sun goes down. During the summer months, I am typically very busy at work. I am a certified AC repair specialist. I work on residential and commercial machines. I rarely have to work on the weekend, but Friday is always busy because we have to get everything done. Last Friday, I had two AC repairs on schedule. One was downtown at a coffee shop. That repair was actually routine maintenance, but it turned out to be a little more complicated. I spent half the morning repairing ductwork problems. In the afternoon, I was helping a customer with a ductless AC installation and we had a power surge. I was delayed on the job by two hours. I thought I was going to get home by eight, and then the boss wanted me to stop at the grocery store on the way home. The manager called to report a refrigeration problem with one of the coolers. Since the grocery store is right next to my apartment, the boss asked to stop and have a look. The cooler was 55 degrees and I had to stay to repair the problem or the guy was going to lose $4500 worth of steaks. By the time my day ended, I was ready to go home and go to sleep.
