When I was in college I bought a small home because I thought it was a more logical option than spending a lot of money on the dorms. The house was a two-bedroom and situated about a block from my college. It needed some work, but it was the perfect place to enjoy college life without any worries of dorm advisor or landlord shutting down our parties. Both of us emailed our professors saying we had an emergency and would not be in class that day. After all, we were broke college students who couldn’t afford an HVAC technician’s help. We thought it would be an easy fix, but we were very wrong. Once we started looking at the furnace, we realized we had no idea what we were doing and would probably just mess it up beyond repair.
