I Held On Too Long

I had been living in a house with a super outdated HVAC system for far too long.

  • I did everything in my power to hold onto the previous HVAC system because it technically still provided heat and air for my house, but looking back, I wish I wouldn’t have.

I was reluctant to purchase a new HVAC system because I didn’t want to spend the money. I thought that it was wasteful to install a new HVAC system when my HVAC system still provided heat and air. However, when I realized that my HVAC company offered a payment plan, I said goodbye to my old HVAC system and had a new HVAC system installed. After a few months of living with my new HVAC system, I realized how much better the new HVAC system was compared to my old one. I was saving so much money through my monthly utility bills, just because my HVAC system was newer. It ran more efficiently and I wasn’t spending money on lost energy. Looking back, I feel stupid for holding onto my old HVAC system for so long. I thought I was being financially responsible for holding off on a new HVAC system, but as it turns out, I wasn’t being financially responsible at all. I was throwing away money trying to pay for high utility bills and unwanted repairs. Don’t make the same mistake as me. Replace your HVAC system when it costs more to run it (or repair it) than it does to replace it.
